Laura Jabbour, a Syrian landscape architect and creative designer, believes in the power of art as a tool for social transformation. With a background in architecture and design, her work explores the intersection of culture, language, and visual expression.
Laura studied in Syria and practiced architecture for two years before leaving her home country due to conflict. Upon arriving in Barcelona, she immersed herself in Spanish language studies and pursued a master’s degree in landscape architecture while teaching Arabic and working as a graphic designer.
In 2019, after migrating to Spain, Laura launched her artistic initiative “Árabegrafía”, which aims to break barriers between languages, origins, and cultures. Her project seeks to shift the perception of the Arabic language—often associated with conflict—and transform it into an artistic tool for connection and dialogue. Through embroidered Arabic calligraphy, she creates artwork that fosters engagement and cultural understanding.
